The Challenge

A soft-body snake that stretches, wraps around pins, and snaps back naturally — while staying tap-responsive, deterministic across replays, and cheap enough to render at 60 FPS on entry-level phones.

The Approach

The snake body is a chain of constrained joints solved analytically instead of a full soft-body simulation. Pin interactions use precomputed wrap arcs so the visual coil matches the physics without expensive collision solves. Stretch limits are enforced by a stiffness curve, and rendering uses a skinned mesh over the joint chain instead of per-frame mesh deformation.

The snake feels alive and rubbery, wraps naturally around every pin, and snaps back with satisfying weight — the exact tactile loop the flex-pin genre is built on, tuned for a reptile.
